PS3 Audio import

Hey guys, got a few questions about audio import settings on my PS3. What codec should it be: aac, mp3, or atrac?
What bit rate : 96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 320?
Output freq : 48khz or 44.1/88.2/176.4khz?
Bitmapping?? Type 1, 2, or 3
(the ones it red are current settings)
This may not make a hill of beans difference in the audio, but if it does I want it to be right. I save all my good audio to it for playback at times. If it really doesn't matter, just let me know.

Could you describe your "audio import" steps? Is it some sort of audio capture function?

Since they are low bit rate mp3's, it won't make a bit of difference. There is no place for mp3's in a serious audio system

320s aren't that bad.
Yes, they are. Any mp3 sucks a$$ if high fidelity is what you're looking for. There is no place for lossy audio if you are the least bit serious about good sound.
Period!

Well, I would generally tend to agree with you.
That being said, the difference between 128 and 320 is dramatic. At first I had no issue with 128-192 mp3s. Now I can't stand to listen to any mp3s below 320.
However in my experience the difference between 320 and FLAC is much much less dramatic. -

Agree, and for high fidelity yes, lossy may not be the way to go. But when you try to support a library to your main 2 channel, 2nd 2 channel, garage, boat, car hard drive, older mp3 player and phone, I enjoy the compatibility and sound of 320. It all depends what your looking for._____________________________________________________________________________________________

Well I guess its whenever files are loaded from the LAN or from a usb drive.Yes, they are. Any mp3 sucks a$$ if high fidelity is what you're looking for. There is no place for lossy audio if you are the least bit serious about good sound.

There is DEF room in my 'serious' system for some mp3s especially for my budget!! MP3s sound dang good as a matter of fact! I'm just trying to do the best with what I have.
So what y'all are telling me is bascially to switch to the the 320 and let it go? I'll make the change and thanks for the info!!!AVR - Onkyo NR809

Late to the show. But as far as what you can "store" on a PS3 and what I have on there, as well, 320 is your best option. Wish Sony would not put a limit on that, but they're neurotic about copy protection. I would like to be able to put lossless on there and run the digital to a better DAC, but?
Have fun!
