Any Aftermarket SDA SRS cables?

I know that none of the big companies like Monster make a replacement cable for these, but does anyone know of any custom cable makers that have managed to reproduce these?

Polk sells the blade/blade version, the pin/blade are scarce and show up in the FM every once in a while........you've only got 98 more posts to go before you can get in there.

Of course I need the pin/spade for a pair of SRS 1.2's I just bought. I need a few things....they are in rough shape, but they are the speakers I have wanted for years. I guess I better get to posting!

only the pin is active the blade is just for support I use a RCA cable because of the pin, just break the outer rings off, just be careful moving them around as only the pin is supporting the cable

If you are using a common ground amplifier, you only need to connect the "pin" portion of the pin/blade connection.

I am thinking about removing the pin blade connectors and replacing it with a speakon connector.

    Hi PolkieMan,

I recommend that you consider upgrading the RCA cable to a good quality speaker cable. I ran an RCA cable for about a year before finally installing Cardas binding posts and building my own interconnect out of 12 gauge speaker cable -- I'm slapping myself for not doing it sooner. The improvement to the overall SDA effect was HUGE.

If you don't have the wherewithal to build yourself a set of far better than stock cables, as suggested in this thread, I suggest you do a Google on VR3 Mods and talk to Trey about what he recommends for you. He can be helpful in doing other mods you may want to do.

By the way, nice to see another Hoosier on the Forum -- I'm a native son of Bedford, Indiana -- who is currently in the midst of modifying a pair of SRS 1.2s and a pair of 1Cs -- with a lot of help from the much more knowledgeable members of the Forum and VR3 Mods.

Both projects are progressing, albeit not at the pace I would like.

My SRSs were purchased about a year ago, and by all appearances they were in excellent condition and had never been modified. Trey has built the upgraded crossover and binding post cups, and they are ready to reinstall. We are waiting for delivery of the perfect-lay SDA inductors. I have RD0194s to replace the tweeters. MWs and PRs have been treated with Dynamat Xtreme. MWs will be treated with JB Weld before I reinstall them.

However, when I removed the PRs, I discovered that the SRSs had been modified and had suffered some damage to the cabinet of the right channel speaker and the gasket was destroyed. I am now repairing that damage. I also discovered that the amount of polyfill in the upper part of the cabinets had been approximately doubled. More important, egg-crate style foam had been added to the PR portion of the cabinets. All that filler has been removed, and I have new Accousia Stuff (and less of it) to reinstall. I'll add Black Hole 5 behind the MWs and tweeters, as well as on the cabinets' interior sides at the level of the MWs. I've ordered neoprene to cut new gaskets. I have sets of Larry's rings to install, which I will do as soon as the cabinet is repaired. Finally, I'll add spikes to the bases and get the SRSs put back together!

I purchased the 1Cs new in 1989. I haven't found any surprises with them. Trey has the crossovers and binding post cups to rebuild. I have RD0194s to replace the SL2000 tweeters. I will apply Dynamat Xtreme to the MWs and PRs, and Black Hole 5 in the upper back and sides of the cabinets, install Larry's rings, new gaskets, install spikes and reassemble the speakers.

As an aside, I have built one Dreadnought and will built a second one when the Avel Lindberg 1000VA isolation transformers nspindel has organized. I've got one of Larry's cases on order, and am building one of my own design (I ordered the parts before I knew that Larry was making cases). I've used both sets of speakers with the Dreadnought, and I believe it produces superior sonic performance -- even when it is not necessary to enable the SDAs to be used with a non-common-ground amplifier or amplifiers.

Sorry for the length of this, but I guess I got started telling you how it was going and couldn't stop!

Very nice. I spoke to TeeKay earlier today and he was telling me about the dynamat and jb weld and also about Larry's rings. I am sitting down and making out my Christmas list!
