$300.00 seems steep to me. I would say $175.00 is fair (IMO) assuming all drivers/tweeters work OK. If they don't show up often in your area however and they are close to you that makes the worth higher (to you). They do have the SL2000 tweets unfortunately, but they can be swapped for some RD0-194's (with some slight cabinet modification).

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

    $300 for Monitor 10's???
    That's double going price.
They often show up for even a hundred.

No modifications are needed to replace the SL2000 with RDO-194s in the 10Bs shown in the ad.

Tell the guy, politely, that he's selling his speakers on EARTH not on another planet. Offer him $100. If you "really" want them you could go to $125. If he bites buy, if not walk away!

It’s true these speakers are only worth ~$150-$175 but they sound better than used speakers that are selling for much more.

    O

How do you define "worth"? It's what someone else is willing to pay for it. Once Wayne Gretzke and some other guy paid over $450,000 for a baseball card of someone I'd never heard of. To me, that card wasn't "worth" $0.25.

Buyers need to take condition, location, history, modified vs. unmodified, etc. into account to decide what they're worth to themselves. The most recent pairs sold on ebay went for $145, $185, $207.50 and $230 and none of them seemed to be in great condition and none of them were likely auditioned prior to sale. Local CL listings (5 pairs) here for Monitor 10 pairs over the past couple of weeks have ranged from $150 to $300 and the $300 pair sold for $270. I have an extra-super-minty stock pair that I've owned since new that I would not sell for $300.

To the OP (tophat), if you're interested, go listen to them, check out their condition and see how flexible the seller is with his/her price. If nothing else, it'll give you an idea of what the 10s sound like, look like, feel like and you can decide what they're "worth" to you (ie. in comparison to your SDA-2Bs, etc.) if you decide to pass on them (like on all those recent pairs of CRSs ) this time around.

People can ask $300 all they want but in the last 3 months I have seen several pairs sell for 70 to 130 and at least a few of those were mint with stands so I can't see paying that kind of price for them.

I agree. Look at it this way. This is a "Polk" forum. If "we" don't know what the value of a set of Monitors is, "who" does? Or let's try it another way. Just try to sell a set of non-modded Monitor 10s on this site for $300 and see what responses you get.

They are worth what you want to pay for them, but I would say $100 is a fair price for 10's

Thanks. Never owned the 10B's only 10A's. I thought slight modification was necessary to install the RDO-194's. Thanks for the correction.
