Hi, I'm starting to build a new 7.1 HT. I took apart and sold most of my previous HT equipment due to the bad economy, I needed the money and to budget down. Now that I have been saving and made sure I have enough in the bank I'd like to put together a new HT and this time step up to a slightly higher end system for both movies and music.
My old HT setup:
Definitive Technology Mythos ST
SVS PB12 Ultra sub
Pioneer Elite SC05 reciever
Carver/Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature amp
I still have my Pioneer Elite Kuro Pro-151fd Plasma and Pioneer Elite 23FD bd player which I will keep those.
I'm thinking of going with one of these speaker companies below:
B&W
Vienna Acoustics Beethoven Baby Grand system
Paradigm
PSB
Speaker setup will be in the $9k to $13k range, I'm looking for warm silky smooth sound, not aggressive.
Subs:
Elemental Designes
SVS
Sunfire/Carver
I'd like to do seperate dedicated amp and pre/pro.
I'm looking for a warm sounding amp, either a tube amp or solid state amp, maybe Conrad Johnson or another Carver?
For pre/pro either a Pioneer Elite SC07 series or Macintosh or??

I went from Mythos ST towers to LSIM's and I'm happy with my system. If this is going to be a HT system I'd skip tubes and get a nice warm sounding SS amp like a Parasound Halo amp. For a sub I'd definitely go with a I.D.company like JTR or a Submersive.

I recently got to hear a Paradigm Studio series surround system from a local shop. It completely blew me away. When i'm ready to upgrade from my current LSi system, I will be going with them or the new LSiM series. The system was powered by an Anthem avm50v, mca 50, and mca 20. Speakers were studio 100, cc690, and 4 adp 590, and 1 seismic 110 sub.
