I've always been a fan of Ferrari's front-engined GT cars. IMO the most beautiful cars ever made. Whatever GT Ferrari is building that year, that's the most beautiful car of that year. And the F12 is the best yet.

I have been a Ferrari fan since I sat in my first one at 7 years old.
And in all these years I have never been able to convince myself to spend all that money for one.
But I do have an aluminum engine block in my Cobra that was cast by Teksid, the company that casts Ferrari's
engine blocks.
That's as far as I can afford to go and still have money to spend on Hi-Fi. -
Teksid ???
According to a show about Ferrari I saw a year or two ago, they sand cast their engine blocks at their facility in Modena. Perhaps that was only for some models.
After watching their factory in action I gained new insight into why they cost so much."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
I believe I saw this same show you are describing and yeah I remember them doing all their blocks in house.
As a side note, their paint department was especially impressive.drumminman wrote: »According to a show about Ferrari I saw a year or two ago, they sand cast their engine blocks at their facility in Modena. Perhaps that was only for some models. -

From the 90's to the 2001's they were cast by Teksid, which is also owned by Fiat, as is Ferrari. It was no longer cost effective for Teksid to do the very small production runs required by Ferrari and Maserati. But all the new pressure cast and spin cast technology was available to them, as were the newest alloys. -

Interesting! Did not know this, so I have learned something new! As a side note, the next time you wax your car, make a new thread and post up some pics!
