I just bought a pair of used sds srs speakers and have a few questions about amps/preamps and tweeter replacement as 2 tweeters seem to not be working.

Try looking at the sticky's in vintage speakers. Lots of info there. I'm sure the SDA guys will be here soon to help out.

I ordered a cerwin vega cv 2800 amp for these speakers, I want reccomendations for a pre-amp to run the system. I want a pre-amp with a remote control for volume control, any thoughts on a good pre-amp? All I do is listen to cd's, no need for surround sound multi channel features, just 2 channel with remote control capabilities.

For starters, send that amp back and get an amp that actually sounds good.

LOL...you kill me sometimes, short and to the point no B.S.....but I love that about you.

Oldrocker, maybe narrow it down a tad. Just saying your looking for a 2 channel pre amp will result in hundreds of options. How about a budget ? Solid state or tube ? Source you will be pairing it with ? Incidently, about the amp, I tend to agree with F1nuts statement. Plenty of other amps used on the cheap will serve you better.

Be sure you get an amp with a common ground if you do replace your cv, or you will have more blown drivers. There are other ways to deal with a non common ground amp as you will see in the links in the vintage speaker section. As chumlie says, really great info SDA's, which series speakers do you have?
