Check this one out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057674113&category=14993

First of all, it's not an SDA. Second, thats an 8" passive, not a 10". Third, I'm quite sure these things were not 600 bucks a pair new. And last, if the guy only has ONE speaker, then how could he have hooked THEM up, listened to THEM and determined THEY sound great when he only has ONE?

Good lord, some people!

John

Shouldn't be a 7 unless the original 7's had an 8" passive... 7's have a 10", and that definitely isn't a 10. My first thought was an original Monitor 5?

Plus... don't SDA speakers have to have, at the very least, ONE extra driver for the 'other' side? This isn't an SDA speaker at all, is it?

Edit... doesn't that photo show "5B" on the cup?

Good call on the '5'. But assuming that tweet is original, it wouldn't be a 'b' model, would it?

As for B model... I said that only looking at the photo... looks like it says 5B to me.... maybe a smudged A? Maybe a replacement cup?

I see what you see, and I guess this proves we can 'discuss' the most irrelevant of audio topics.

How about the fuse? I didn't think 'b' series were fused..

    Replacement s/n sticker?

I emailed Safe Harbor about the listing, it will probably be yanked in the near future.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Safe Harbor? Wow, that's harsh.

I'm betting the dude flat out doesn't know what he has, saw some actuall Polk 'SDA' on ebay with a similar tweeter - figured it was the same series.

That's funny, I might have just emailed the seller....

It may be harsh, but its a listing violation, bottom line. If he doesn't know what he owns, the last thing I am going to do is send him an email saying hello. :)

We should be addressing things like this, good eye John.

If you're going to sell something on Ebay or anywhere for that matter, then know what the hell it is you're selling.

Good lord, the guy got the model wrong (which is posted on the back), the size of the passive (easily discovered with an invention known as a RULER) and flat out said THEY sound great when in fact he only has ONE in his posession for sale.

The thing is, most likely us experienced Polk fanatics are the only ones that would catch this.

I might try selling my Mustang on Ebay.

"For sale, a vehicle closely resembling a Lamborghini Diablo because it's red, has 4 wheels, loud exhaust and guzzles gas. Brand new, these cost about $250,000.00. Get this one while you can at a cheaper price!"

    I'm just being stupid!:D

Actually the Stang and Diablo are from different manufacturers, therefore your analogy is incorrect.

A Stang - Tbird analogy would fit better.

    Cheers,
