Tony sent me Eagles-Hell Freezes over, Foreigner-Foreigner, Queen-A Night at the Opera on DTS-DVD Audio free. He would not even let me pay shipping. These are my first intro to the DTS-DVD audio world. So don't laugh. But damn, if you have not checked out DTS-DVD Audio...you should!

Tony, thanks SO much for hooking me up! Even my wife heard the Foreigner disc playing and asked what I had changed.

Rick, I know it may sound dumb. But I kinda feel like I been listening to music with a sheet over my head. Perhaps it's just digitally enhanced and I am making premature judgements here. But I am sure liking it this evening. I am fairly sure the Guiness Extra Stout has nothing to do with it. Fairly sure that is.....

Its not a dumb question man...any player that can player DTS encoded disks can play a multi channel DTS music disck, so yes pletty much any dvd or BD player. but if they are true DVD-Audio disks, then no, only a few select dvd or bd players can play those, like all oppos, certain pioneers and denons, etc. Check the manual to be sure.

Very cool of you Tony. I knew you were a stand up guy!

Hope you enjoy them Gary. DVD audio and SACD are about the same only they go about it in a different way. Personally, I like SACD, even hi rez music on DTS Master Audio in the Blu-ray format. Just trying to get away from buying soo many discs only to have them sit and collect dust. The wife is diggin' the Sonos, I dig it, and I have a cullen modded one too that I use for higher rez music so the discs are wasting away. Happy listening, and don't be afraid to explore music or gear outside your comfort zone. Rock on.

Tony is good people......end of story.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I have both SACDs & DVD-As, and both sound terrific, they are equally good I can't detect any difference in the sound. As Tony said the companies just went about it differently so that they could have a format war. Which is why I waited until Pioneer made the Pioneer Elite 47-A DVD player so that I could enjoy both on one machine.
