SDA dimensional speaker active during monaural play.

I am replacing 3 of the 4 dimensional speakers in my Polk SDA SRS 2 speakers and while playing them to just listen to stereo without the SDA effect, there is sound coming from the one dimensional driver that is remaining in the right channel. I'm using the Denon POA 6600 monoblocks and do not have the interconnecting cable attached. It seems to me that the one dimensional speaker should not be playing without the interconnecing cable. Is there someting also blown in the crossovers?

That is normal. Only the earliest of SDA's completely isolated the dimensional driver by playing ONLY the opposite channel signal. Later SDA's play a lower level signal from the same channel through the dimensional driver as well as opposite channel signal, hence why there is a little bit of sound even without the cable connected.

Thanks heiney, it does seem as though the signal is as full strength as the other drivers are. I'll run some tests once I get all the speakers hooked up. How do you like your Aleph, is there plenty of power? I'm going to have to get rid of the Denon monoblocks.

That's not quite correct. The SDA drivers only produce the stereo signal below 100Hz.

I think some folks believe the SDA drivers are working fully when the SDA cable is disconnected because they see the drivers moving.

I read somewhere that 4 woofers in my 1C play normal signal below 150hz to enhance bass output.
