Hi I have two speakers serial number R SDA 2539 that I got from a rummage sale. There is a "RIGHT CHANNEL INPUT" labeld with a + and - symbol. What kind of cable do I use to hook up to the amp? I have the interconnect cable but don't know what that does.
Thanks,
Fred

pictures would help us out. Are you saying you have 2 right speakers? + and - should be speaker cable inputs. but if you have two RIGHT speakers then you have your work cut out for you to make these work properly.

You should post this in Vintage Speakers so that people that build and modify these can help you.
But you will be asked to provide more detailed information.
You have 2 speakers, each speaker has a black and red post for the standard speaker wire positive and negative this goes to your amp like any other speaker.
The cable plugs in to both speakers (interconnect) so that they can "talk" to each other and give you the SDA output. DO NOT USE MONOBLOCK AMPS. Only use a standard 2 channel common ground amps or receivers.

I have a left and right speaker (pic of right below). Thanks for the link, I'll have a look at the book. No idea what a monoblock amp is but will google it. Thanks!

Post picture of the front with the cover off. Don't worry about the monoblock amp you probably have a standard receiver or amp like I have which have both L and R channel in the back for the speaker wires, right? I see on this the plastic red and black screws are missing from the speaker wire posts. Check the fuses are ok, get some screws to hold the speaker wires in place, or get some banana plugs to stick the wires in hook up the interconnect cable and at very low volume start testing.POLK SDA 2.3 TLS BOUGHT NEW IN 1990, Gimpod/Sonic Caps/Mills RDO-198

Your binding posts are broken for starters.
Can you post a pic of the front without the grill on? Also, a pic of the entire back? I've never seen that binding post plate before.

that will be a later SDA1 model or SDA1 signature. My SDA1 signature's plate look just like that. I'm betting he's missing the red and black plastic nuts.

Curious to see what these are! Looks to have a dimensional tweeter, so something early in the series (Low serial #, too).Jay

I bet there is a port on the front baffle or a plate covering that port on the front baffle, I just don't remember the model #.

you are correct Larry as my SDA1 Signatures have a brass plaque that covers the filled ports and the internal box for the MW's was not installed like the SDA1. -

I have few with nude binding posts.
They work fine with banana cables or when speaker wire is crammed in tight in the holes.

SDA1 signature just like mine. They're real fun to upgrade and what a difference it will make. That big ol plate on the back makes it much easier.
