I've a SRT system now and not using because size. I am thinking buying another set of Lsi9s and create a SDA systems out of 4 Lsi9s using the controller. anyone done something like this before? this may be the newest and cheap way to merge old SDA tech with new, better drivers.

    AVR: Denon AVR 3806 => Fxi3
    AMP1: HK Citation 7.1 => SDA 1C & LSi9
    AMP2: HK Citation 7.1 => Csi5 & LSi7
    AMP3: HK Citation 7.1 => Rti12
    SUB: Deftech Supercube I

    You've got all that set up and you think the SRT system is too large!?!

    Sda technology is not contained in the controller. It's more complicated than that.

    I thought SRT speakers are just normal speakers (in term of connections). I mean there is no SDA cable to link them. everything seem to go through that box. to me, it makes sense that way to put everything in the 1 controller to less complicate things. Have you tried or know anyone tried something like what I mentioned? I really wonder how it sounds like using 4 Lsi9s

    I think you need to re-check your speakers as they clearly have a second input as shown in the instructions:

    civilian,
    that is what I am talking about. totally there are 4 outputs from the controller going to 2 satelines. anyone tried connecting the 4 outputs to 4 identical speakers?

    the SRT manual clearly says that the L & R part of the satelines are identical to the Center speaker. The other half part of each sateline is the SDA speaker, minus the tweeter.

    OK I get your idea now.
    Simple answer is if you are not happy with the big boys try it. If you don't like the sound use the new LS's as the four main channels without the controller.
    The SRT is awesome I'd love to have one someday. Just not sure how it would compare or integrate with today's multichannel setup going up to 11.1?>

    Try removing the sda terminal plate and see what's behind it.

    The SRT are modular in design. They can accommodate any multichannel system as long as you have the proper amount of speakers.

    Nhhiep, You obviously don't have a clue as to how the sda effect is achieved. I suggest you read the white paper on it.

    Nhhiep,

    Regular SDA's are 100% passive in their achievement. SRT's use some active and some passive principles. While you can connect the SRT module to any speakers (the active part of the equation) you can't replicate the passive element using LSi 9's. It won't work as intended.

    I might also add to my previous post, just adding the active controller to any old speakers also won't achieve the same results as using the SRT's speakers.

    Try it if you like, but once you reason it out, you might get something different, but it won't be like SDA's or like the SRT's.
