Another PSW1200 thread!!!

I'm sure since the 1200 is one of the biggest most grotesque subs made by PA, that everyone rolls their eyes when Noob asks about them. Ok, now that that is out of the way, can you guys review them for me? How are they for H/T and are they quick and accurate for music? I'd like to hear all opinions on them, but would love to hear from people that have them! Also, how difficult is it to find one?? Can you replace amps in them if they go out? Any and all info is appreciated!
btw, I have read the reviews on the vintage PA website and while they are informative, the reviews posted there can be very lopsided and hardly have any real critique to them.

Just my .02, but none of the psw subs are well suited for music. You'd have to hit up a dsw or micro pro sub to get that blend your looking for between HT/music.
I don't believe Polk is still making replacement amps for them, but if your handy you could always modify one to take any external amp you like. Personally, time and effort, cost involved....I'd hit up one of the other Polk subs I mentioned or another brand like HSU, SVS, Epik, Rel, Velo.....and a cast of others. Even for HT, the psw line seemed slow and muddy. Just my .02, others may have had different experiences.HT SYSTEM-

Well my budget won't allow a new one plus I enjoy vintage stuff like this that is borderline ridiculous, but still not that old and can be had for good deals at times.AVR - Onkyo NR809

The PSW 1200 is one of the biggest, baddest subs Polk has ever made. Weighing in at over 100 lbs with dual 12" woofers. It can hang with the big boys. Somewhere around here there is a recent thread on just this sub with a LOT of info and testimonials for it! See if you can find it using the search engine.

Or look for some posts by VR3 on it when you search.
I'm not sure how many of those are around. But they are many cuts above the more current line PSW tony is referring to above, i.e., things like the PSW 10, 12, 404, 505, 110, 125, etc. Yeah, those are slower and muddier. The 1200 not so much!
If you can get a good price, I'd say jump on it and see if someone here knows more about what kind of amp is in there!

I have searched recently and have read some good stuff and also seen a few of VR3's posts. I'll see if I can dig a little deeper. Thanks CNH for the info!AVR - Onkyo NR809

My opinion is that Polk makes decent subs for music... they tend to bottom out around 30-35Hz. If you are looking for output between 20-30Hz, then I would look elsewhere. I have the Polk PSW650 (actually two of three, one died). They are good with music, fast response. Compared to my Sunfire True Subwoofer, they are notably better for music but the Sunfire can really go deeper, the Sunfire bass was not as tight as the Polk.
When watching movies, the Polks have a lot of slam, but the Sunfires shook the room...
