A Couple of SDA Questions

Thanks in advance. Picked up the speaks yesterday. They look like SDA2B Studios. The back label just says "SDA 2". So what are these? Also, the tweets sounded funny hooked up to my system. I pulled them and they had a date of 1994 printed on them. So, were these replacements? I put in my 1989 SL2000s in and the sound was much better. Are the older SL2000s better suited for this old speaker?

BTW Aaron is a great guy to deal with and I think he has a pair left for sale in Cincinnati.

    (2) 6.5" drivers; one 6503 and one 6511 on each speaker. SL2000 tweets. I'm pretty sure they are 2Bs. Have the pin-blade SDA cable hook-up.

Also, I don't think the 2Bs were still made in '94 (??), so those must be replacement tweeters of some sort. Do the MW drivers have similar dates stamped on them?

The SL2000s have a clear (semi-clear anyway) dome on them, "Polk Audio" and "Silver Coil Dome" labeled on the black base plastic and twisted wire cores visible on the fronts branching out laterally (when the tweeters are in "horizontal position") from the tweeter dome.

With the pin/blade (vs. blade/blade) interconnects, you can do the "TL" mod (bags of threads covering the specifics of this can be found), which is much-prefered, over the standard mod, by the majority of those in the know here.

The "TL" sounds interestig. Just got them and I need to do some patchwork on the cabs. Very nice sound with everything stock. Somewhat similar to my slightly modded 8Ts. Better low end on the SDAs however. I think they will just sing when modded.

Found the camera cord! They are in decent shape. Going to have to do a little work to them. They are completely stock and sound really good now. Can't wait to change caps and hear the transformation

Could only get them 5 1/2 ft. apart, and ears are 9 ft away, but so far so good.
