I am a proud owner of a third set of Polks the m7A, which I acquired in a garage sale for $25.00. I replaced my Monitor 10 set with these older 7A's that sound just great. They are in very good overall condition but the tweeter button on of the speakers is flatened but it does appear to affect the performance of the speaker. I would like to know what tweeter I have as its is all black nothing written, no hole in the middle of the button.

thanks in advance,

The monitor 7's original black tweeter was made by Peerless. I have a pair of 7's myself with that tweeter.

All black should be peerless, but they do have a small pin hole in the center of the dome. Need pics to confirm.

That's not a peerless. Looks to be non original replacement. Not sure- have you removed it to look for markings on the rear?

Hi! I have never removed a tweeter. I will give it a try. I am very curious.

I removed the tweeter and at the back it is written DMT 700 60W made in Taiwan. R.O.C. I searched for info on these but cannot find anything. Does somebody have info to share on these tweeters? Would I get better sound if I replaced them with Polk tweeter?
    Thanks Again!

Yes, you would get a better sound with Polk replacement tweeters. Not sure which tweeters would fit these electrically (possibly RD-0194), but I'm sure others will chime in.

    That's a hack repair job.

You might need to take a look at your crossovers or the date on the mid-woofers to help determine what was the stock tweeter. I know from experience that the Peerless and the later RDO tweeter are not the same size. The RDO (and the Sl2500 that it replaces) are a little larger. I did the replacement and had to enlarge the tweeter cut out a little. If the crossover has just one 2.7 ohm resistor in the tweeter circuit you can probably drop in the RDO tweeter. If there are two resistors in the tweeter circuit you probably had the earlier Peerless tweeters. I happen to have a pair of Peerless tweeters in fine shape available if that is that you need. Good luck.

I called Polk customer service and the woman I talked to said the 7A's came with the Peerless HF1000 tweeters. She also said I could replace the taiwan tweeters with the SL-2000 from my monitor 10,s. They are in good working condition so I am kind of reluctant to take them apart. How much I am looking to pay for a pair of Peerless tweeters? I am in the Ottawa area Canada I wonder about shipping cost also.
    Thanks!

Peerless tweeters are often up for sale on E-bay, if you don't mind going that route

you may also want to post in the 'wanted to buy' section of this forum - there are a lot of great folks who can help you out. Fellow Polkies have helped me many a time with parts, for extremely reasonable prices, much less than eBay.
