Ok there I was. Downtrodden because a VERY NICE set of Monitor 10's would cost way too much with shipping to be cost effective. I am not going to pay $100-$200 more than they are worth....

Soo... but sheer luck I happened across another craigslist ad. This was for some Infinity RS-4B's in B+ condition. $300. GAH! I was on them like white on rice. Got a good demo of them, and they went home with me.

I already have replacement caps on order for the crossover from Bennic, Solen and dayton.

These speakers sound quite transparent and uncolored as is. With the upgraded caps....MMMM

Congrats! Those are the little brothers to the IIIa/b. I have the IIIa's and love them!

I can remember infinity (vaguely) from the late 70's. They were the first "transparent" speaker I listened to. All the mass market stuff bose, jbl, klipsch seemed far too colored/inaccurate by compare. I did read JG HOLT's early stereophile review of Infinity, and he loved them. The speakers are scheduled for open heart surgery this week. Precision wire wound resistors, I will by pass the level controls and of course new caps. Like Polk, I find it totally great engineering, considering technology of the day. Narrow, elegant speaker designs as well.
