I did the speaker set up and set the levels to +10 and still weak volume. This option let me know that I had the speakers connected properly. The cable and DVD are also coming through HDMI and picture perfect, just NO KICK!!! Possible that I got a bad egg????

Are you trying to run SDAs off that? 4 ohm loads do NOT make the Onkyo "happy" even though its huge. It has a "limiter" for 4 ohm speakers that will cut its power in half to such speakers when engaged in order to "protect" itself!

What does the Volume read? Do you have the 0-99 set up or the other scale that goes from - to 0 to + numbers. On the absolute scale a setting of 80+ should be very very loud (out of 99 that is).

It might just be that the Onkyo can't run SDAs? The easiest way to find out is switch out those speakers and run something else on it!

Did the factory reset and WhamO. Not earth shattering in cable mode, but as soon as I get the dvd player set up for Pandora radio it should rock the bedroom!! I'll keep ya posted and yes the 0-99 is in play. Haven't reset the speaker cal yet, so I'm good. Runing in 6 ohm. Thanks cnh. You always seem to come to the rescue!! really appreciate ya man.

Jon - you're trying to power SDA-2Bs with that, right? I've run my 2Bs with my 805 alone and it did fine. Did you set it up using the Audyssey mic or manually? If by Audyssey, dit the test tones sound right, or were they weak too? When you initialized the 805, did you set the speakers as "Normal" (vs. "Bi-Amp")? And did you set them for 6-Ohm load?

I hope Ken will delete this thread. I was too haste and after the reset and speaker calibration this thing is making the SDA's speak in Tongues!! love it. Just st up Pandora and the power is off the chain. I am a believer people! The Onk sr805 is a beast and I am happy!!

2-fat-jon: Glad to hear everything's working nicely for you with the 805! Easy to understand how you got a little ahead of yourself with the excitement/anticipation building all week waiting for that thing to arrive. One quick note worth mentioning since you're a complete noob with the SDAs: when you do the Audyssey speaker calibration, make sure to disconnect the speaker interconnect cable before starting it, then re-connect it when it's done running.

Congrat's on the new purchase, I'm quite sure you'll be very happy with it. I still love my 805 after about 5-6 yrs.

Thanks my audio bro. I wont be using the Ausyssey. I set them bad boys up to my ears liking and loving it. The volume seemed to pop off the left channel tweeter, but then it came back on?? weird right?? I will do the upgrade on those tweeters soon, but have to pay for the sweet pair of CRS MK1's with stands I just scored...in a beautiful rosewood finish (see pics in the Vintage Speakers thread I just posted. Excited again!! Love this stuff!!
