Resistors and inductors: what/how much improvement?

I have modded a number of speakers. NORMALLY the cheap stock caps get replaced with quality caps. I can tell IMMEDIATELY how much improvement the caps make. (Going from a tired old 20% electrolytic cap to a new metal poly 1% is a difference anyone can hear) I also have seen the difference a better tweeter can make. There is no "fringe" or 'almost": they make BIG changes that you don't need trained ears to hear.

Sooo....

The only time I ever replaced an inductor (for ex) is in a 1980's set of cerwin vegas. The stock inductors looked like red thread on a cardboard bobbin. The replacements were modest but... Yikes did it tighten up bass! But that was an *extreme* change from a REALLY cheap coil.

In regards to speakers like polk CRS and monitor 10:

1) What audible difference do quality resistors make?

2) What audible difference do quality inductors make?

I would really like to know (maybe on a scale of 1-10) how great a difference is manifested in these parts vs a tweeter or cap upgrade. As far as I am concerned, cheap electrolytic caps to metal poly is a solid "10" for obvious and cost effective improvement. A tweeter can be the same way, so long as you are not going overboard and the tweeter is a suitable replacement. (IE I replaced Klipsch phenolic tweeters with titanium...BIG BIG difference, and not expensive)

The difference is night and day, on a scale I give it a 10+

Improved clarity, detail, tightened bass as well as increased bass. Your blacks become blacker and deeper.

With this said of course the gear your running depends on how much you will pull out of your speakers, and don't forget to spike them. Well in your case use quality stands..

Thanks, a very direct answer! No "tap dancing" or "umm-ahh...". I will mod these monitor 10's all the way if I can get ahold of them. My source gear start (at least) with outlaw audio. These days, I listen to FLAC or APPLE lossless.

I wouldn't unless you could match it up to another with the same exact DCR...and even then, I'm not sure there would be much of a difference since it's an air core coil.

A very classic example of one knowing absolutely nothing about the OP's question, yet chiming in like a troll. 20,000 posts and this is how you choose to respond to a legit question? Are you serious? If I were to work in a professional atmosphere everyday with the likes of you, I would feel like I would be getting dumber by the minute.

You may want to rethink how and why you post if you would like to keep getting respect.

Classic example of you not paying any attention to what goes on in the forum. He used the same word in diatribe and rant in another thread. Turnabout is fair play. He also went off the deep end and used sexual profanity in another thread of which was deleted.

So Tom, you need to STFU, when you have no idea whatever you're talking about and mind your own business unless you have the entire picture, which is rare for you because all your comments anymore around here are to disparage certain member's you don't get along with.
