I just picked up my first pair of SDA SRS and they are minty and have eight woofers and one passive and four tweeters. Guy says 1989? What model and can I make my own interconnect? Pin /blade type. Will the wrong amp wreck them or only when interconnect is attached? I have Pioneer spec 2,Onkyo M504,emotiva XPA-2 for amps I own?>.....................as always thanks for any help,Darryl

Congrats. You actually have at the very least SRS 1.2's and possibly 1.2 TL's. Remove one of the tweeters and if it's says SL 3000, you have 1.2 TL's. If it's an SL 2000 tweeter you have 1. 2's (which can be upgraded to 1.2TL'S with the appropriate mods).SDA SRS 2.3TL's

If you picked those up on Craigslist, congrats. I saw them earlier today. Those are the standard 1.2's, not the TL's, those in the ad anyway.Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

Attachment not found.Attachment not found. How do I know a common ground amp? And what makes these so so very heavy? Thanks. Re: what makes them heavy, they're b-i-g! ! ! ! with lots of drivers, big inductors and the cabs are made of mdf = heavy.
Re: common ground determination, check with your amp manufacturer. Or if you have a multimeter you can check it yourself: set it to the lowest ohm reading, touch one probe to the right negative speaker terminal and the other one to the left negative speaker terminal. The reading should be 0 or close to it."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -

Start here with Trey's website. This is required reading for the SDA owner. Get an accordion file (or two) since there will be more than a couple of threads you'll want to pour over and keep as reference material. Get a highlighter too.
You can also go to the bottom of the page you're on and check out the similar threads.
Have fun getting lost in all the information:cheesygrin: -
The red binding post nuts should be on the left, not the right (some of the 1.2's that were released from the factory had the red binding post nuts mistakenly installed on the right). Even if the sticker on the back of the speakers show that red is on the right, ignore it. The sticker is from the original SRS's as Polk is known to use leftover stock on newer model speakers.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Holy cow! How did I miss this?! I was ready to move the 1.2's out of the den and put the 2's back, thinking the 1.2 crossovers needed work or wiring checked. Did a quick switcheroo and, presto glorio, the soundstage blooms to what I had expected from these big boys all along. Aaaaahhh...
I had tried about every placement option I could think of. It never sounded like the SRS2's though, and since I removed the 2's and a huge 3-unit wall cabinet at the same time, I thought that might have something to do with it. At least I put some more hours in listening to the LsiM-707's. I now know I much prefer the 1.2's (as someone here had predicted), and can feel better about the decision to sell the 707's.
Anyway, problem solved! Many thanks MichaelJ! You saved me a lot of time and aggravation (and prolly my back too, snicker). This place is great.

Finally have them installed on either side of my Mitsubishi . Sound great! I have read that they should be as close to rear wall as possible. That's where I had them and they sounded great. But I am guessing that the front should not be behind face of TV? With the rear projection I cannot have both? Thank you everyone for all your help. Wife says they are way too big? Her and I will work through that together. Mine were that way and for 14 years I had no SDA operation due to connecting them the wrong way. They work OK reversed but there is NO SDA! I found the problem when I moved here and accidentally connected them "backwards" and the SDA suddenly started to work. Feakin AWESOME improvement. Best mod I have ever done'65 427 Shelby Cobra

Congrats on your 1.2's. I too for almost 20+ years had my + and - backwards. Hooked them up correctly and amazed. Building my own Dreadnaught and once completed will be headed to Vr3 for crossover upgrades and more.
