Hell,we're already here. No they don't come off. You can remove the sock,it just tucks in. I thought it was strange and kind of a pain to have to remove the rears to get to the drivers. Good news is they've been refoamed so you've got no worries.

No worries indeed. Very smooth sound. May fiddle with a very small 2 ch system for my classroom
