How can you, if you are a newbie here, and you came to this site to learn and possibly buy some used equipment, but you really don't know much about speakers-- possibly make 100 intelligent posts without babbling on just to fill up your 100 post requirement?
I mean I can produce 100 posts by stating what music I am listening to or what I am watching. I can ask asinine questions on technical threads instead of doing the intelligent thing and doing a lot of reading - but why?

I belong to another site, the Fred Miranda photography site, where you have to be a paying member to post items for sale - but any members can buy.

Doesn't this make a lot more sense? Won't sellers be losing out on a lot of potential buyers?

Last point, won't sellers really be screwed by this because I would guess that most people with over 100 posts probably have already purchased most of the equipment they need? Ans conversely those with a few posts are probably looking to buy.

Actually its VERY easy to get to 100 posts, especially if your new.

You should have lots of questions about setting things up, if something is worth buying, whats the best bang for your buck upgrade.

By the time you've done that your gonna be close to 100 if you keep up with the dialog.

As far as selling, honestly lots of the folks with OVER 100 posts buy up stuff just as quick as those under 100. Plus what we sell things at here price wise might not be what we want to sell it for if we dont know the person.

I am a BIG FAN of the over 100 posts. It lets me post things on the market here at a discounted rate for "Polkies" and not have someone else on the internet run a search for an item I have listed on a different site ask me for the "friends and family" rate I listed here.

If you were to prioritize each post in importance to us here, starting with one, the 101th post would be about buying or selling our stuff. It's a complete side issue. I think most of us are here to learn and discuss, not do money transactions. It limits the amount of human spam.

Why don't you post a thread in stereo, or vintage or something, and ask for recommendations on setup equipment, and give your room size, budget etc and you will very soon have over a 100 posts, and soon after be $1000 in debt.

Welcome to Club Polk, we are actually quite nice people! I never thought I would have 50 much less a 100 posts, and look at me now, woohooo!

This is not an Ebay site my friend. Our for sale items are for participating members, who we like to give deals to, interact with, have relationships with. It's not for every Tom Dick and Harry doing a google search. If you care to look around a bit, you'll see this has been discussed. It's not alot to ask for some participation to reap some benefits.

Hello Dan,you can get 100 posts fairly fast by just asking questions about things you need to know. There's some very knowledgeable people here, when I came here I knew nothing about audio,I asked about a pair of monitor7s I had picked up used.It snowballed from there next thing you know you will be at or above 100 posts. As for your other questions, maby one of the mods or another member can answer those for you better than I can.

I guess IL have always been a believer in the read first then ask questions philosophy, where I don't ask stupid questions without reading first.

Never doubted you are nice people, just confused as to the logic of forcing people to post stupid things. Not everyine is a poster, some are readers!

You go alng wiht my logic, I'd rather look around and read answers then post questions, such as on this policy!

Dan, I can see your side to a point. But what you are not seeing on our side is that some members have been screwed over in the past. By new members coming in to sell or buy something. The deal goes south and you never hear from or see that new "member" again. The 100 post rule is sorta a way to weed out the out to make a buck and fly off folks and protect existing members.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Relax! Do you think "all" of our posts are Pulitzer winning gems of wisdom? Look at "anyone" on this site. Rifle through a bunch of their old posts and you'll see some "amusing" things, including mine. If we all sat around "afraid" we were going to embarrass ourselves on this site NO one would post anything. Being "wrong" or "unsure" is part of being "human" and "fallible".

Are you going to tell me you only speak/write when you are RIGHT? If I expected my students to think like that, I'd quit my job. Getting something wrong is exactly what "learning" is all about! Stop worrying so much and hang out, dude. No one here is "grading" you. No one cares how many times you might put your foot in your mouth as long as you're cool and not trolling. Hang back and enjoy the ride. Take a look at those Polk Fest pics and tell me those Polkies didn't spend as much time partying as they did picking each others brains about "audio"!

Chill out, we're with you and you're OK!
