Ouch...$75 for the Psychedelic Pill vinyl pre-order. Damn, Neil...looks like I'll be rocking this one digital.
Sounds like it could be an epic release however. 20 min long jams on a couple songs from what I've heard.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -

Yeah, I saw Neil solo acoustic not that long ago and the ticket price was astronomical. However, that being said, it was one of the top five concerts I have ever seen going back to the mid-70's, and that top five includes Bob Marley. $75 for a new album is prohibitive at this point, though. Dylan tried the same thing a while back with vinyl releases.

Is it a single 33 1/3 album, or a couple of 45 rpm albums?
Vinyl is a very limited market. Even reissues of 30-40 year old classic rock albums are expensive.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I'll bet it's high, cause I don't think he messes with anything below El Supremo. Either that, or he got hit by lightning once. Strange cat. -
I have tickets for the Oct. 25th show over in Tuscaloosa, Al. Most expensive ticket I have ever bought. Still, I am
super pumped up. Neil Young and Crazy Horse is a bucket list show for me.-Kevin

I just read that Neil is going to be talking about his new book on Letterman and is not expected to perform. We'll see I guess.

I read the same, but Fallon should make it interesting. -
I thought Fallon's impression of Neil a year or so ago (?) was hilarious. Would love to see a Battle of the Neil's tonight. Looking forward to the Pill. May try to catch him in Fairfax w/ Patti Smith (which might be interesting too).

You're right, Patti Smith will be interesting. I first saw her in 1977 or '78 and it was awesome. I've seen her half a dozen times since then, most recently a couple years ago. They were all real good shows. I've heard she is putting on fine shows in Europe right now and is on top of her game. Neil and Patti Smith would be a hot bill.

I buy anything ol Shakey and the Horse put out, I can only hope it's better than Sleeps With Angels, Greendale, Broken Arrow, or the last one Americana. I think Ragged Glory was the last flawless one put out by ol Neil and Crazy horse. I will buy this one as Ialways buy everything Neil puts out. I got walk like a Giant on the IPod and will listen to it tonight while walking the dogs in 54321 gone. Long live Shakey.Home Theater

Same here. I actually liked Angels, Greendale and Broken Arrow. Sleeps With Angels is one of my favorites. The only real dogs i can think of are Americana & Arc. Different strokes. I have high hopes for Psychodelic Pill.

I agree with high hopes for the new one. If the wax was anything under $50 I would have the order in already. The live tracks I have heard are pretty awesome and the album art looks pretty sweet as well.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A

Love Angels and Greendale personally. I even think of those two as classics. The family is ruthlessly critical of Greendale whenever I force it on them though (hehe), and I can easily see why most would dislike it. It is quite different. I really like the story-telling and consider it one of the better operas. Don't like Le Noise or Arrow much. Arrow was one weird movie, but I kinda liked it.
Expectations are very low for Americana (haven't heard), and high for Pill.
Saw a bunch of Neil's audio-dvd's on Amazon. Never played an audio dvd, but I do like the 3 SACD's I have. Are these things worth looking into?
One other thing: If you haven't heard the Booker T. album with Neil and the Truckers, Potato Hole, you might wanna give it a try. Sorta reminds me of Medeski, Martin & Wood after a bourbon-soaked allnighter. Would love to see that Potato Hole gang live!

Last night I listened to "Live At Massey Hall," the 1971 solo acoustic concert that was released not too long ago on Neil's archive series. I hadn't heard it for awhile and was once again shocked by the awesome sound quality of the recording. I'm sure it was soundboard, but still, we're talking a 1971 concert. It is truly a fine record and it was Neil's "return" to Toronto after making it big. He introduces a lot of songs he was about to record, which the audience had never heard but are now classics. Neil Young fans should take a listen to this one.

Couldn't agree more. Its a great sounding recording.
