Going to pick up a pair of SDA 2B Studios on Sunday. About 100 miles round trip. Is there a certain way (or way not to) transport them? Using a newer Honda CRV.

Just lay them flat on their backs on a blanket or two, and they'll be fine. If they must be nearly side-to-side, just put a couple of thin pillows between them so they don't get scratched up. And, obviously, don't lay anything on the grilles! Enjoy your new SDAs!

Side by side on their backs will work best. I packed mine in between moving pads too.

But when I did that with a pair of 2.3tl's I rolled up one of the serial number stickers sliding it out of my Explorer.

How ironic...I went to Dayton to pick up my 2Bs. I don't recommend shoving them into a monte carlo trunk, but it is possible. I borrowed a Honda element to get my 2.3s home. I did have to shim over the wheel bumps to make them sit flat. Have a fun trip!

I laid mine flat on blankets with pillows in between in the back of my truck, with a blanket on top. I also drove back like an old lady
to avoid sudden stops. I know you are going to enjoy those 2B's Congratulations, are you gonna use that adcom GFA-555 to push them or do you have another amp in mind? I push mine with a GFA-545 and wow they sound sweet. I have been neglecting all my other speakers since I got them. Have fun and happy listening!!!

Definitely going to use the Adcom. Have a tube buffer now between the pre and amp. Have not had much of a chance to do any critical listening, but the buffer is nice. The sound produced is still very detailed, but somehow more controlled. Less echoee, for lack of a better word.

Make sure you screw the binding posts all the way down before you lay them on their back! If the binding post is protruding beyond the edge of the cup they're mounted in, you can snap them off.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I have heard--but never verified--that jumper wires should be attached between the + and - posts of the crossover during shipping. Come to think of it, I think I read that on this very forum.

Supposedly this reduces driver cone motion. As the drivers wiggle in the magnetic gap, they act as little generators. If there's a jumper wire between the posts, that electrical energy serves to dampen the movement; but the effect is lost if there's no jumpers to complete the circuit.

Anyone else heard/tried this? Is it accurate?

Never heard that, but it kinda makes sense. However, it seems to me that they shouldn't be moving very much if being transported by car, and if they are that's one rough ride! The rubber surround would have some damping properties for smaller movements.

Don't know about that either. But I can tell you that lying them flat (on their back) on something soft in the back of a car is fine. I had mine run up to me from N.C. to Pa. and I took the last leg from Pa. to Maine (years ago, thanks lightman1 for part 1 of the transport). That's about a 1000 miles of riding in the back with no problems! So you should be OK!

    Enjoy!

We laid mine on the backs on top of blankets and wrapped them up like the babies they are. Good luck with the trip and here if you need the extra mussle, call me!!
