SRS 3.1TL not too far from me

Hello,

A pair of SRS 3.1TL have turned up about a 4 hour drive from here. Asking $700. I don't see any problems in the photos, but I don't know yet if the IC is included. Does this price seem high, assuming that they are 100% functional and good condition? More importantly, are they a good size for my rooms. My living room is 13' x 19' plus the dining room adds another 15', so 13' x 34' x 8' high. My CRS+ are set up on the long wall next to the opening to the dining room and 20" from the back wall. I am currently liking my CRS+ set up very much. Although the width of the SDA sound stage from the CRS+ is somewhat compromised by the room I think I get better imaging and bass response than I do with my SDA-1Bs. Perhaps the rear facing bass radiator improves the bass response of the CRS+.

Would the SRS 3.1TL just be too big for these rooms or are they just right and would be the ultimate SDA for my house? Are there any reasons to replace the SL-3000 tweeter?

I think $700 is a bit much. I'd say more in the $500 range.

I agree with leroy on the $500 mark.I bought mine for 500 and they were/are a 9/10.
Unless there is someone just dying to get these i'd bet you can get 'em for 5

$500 sounds about right, given their rarity around here. If I drive 4 hours to get them, though, the seller would have me a bit over a barrel when I got there. Leaving empty handed with another 4 hour drive ahead of me would seem a poor option.

I still wonder about the optimum SDA for my room size. The CRS+ are 7' OC apart and 8' to the sweet spot. Is this too tight for the 3.1TL?

Did anyone notice the 3.1tl's for sale last week on ebay? The guy had a price listed for $1000.00 with the only option being "Buy It Now". I tried to check back on them again a few days later and they were gone. Does anyone know if these actually sold for a grand?

The IC cable would not be the deal breaker it's a pin/blade besides it's good for $50 offering leverage.
If the speakers are in perfect condition $700 is not bad.
I always offer 85-90% of the asking price people expect that, so $600-$630.

I saw that as well, and I looked again on eBay when this thread opened and couldn't find them again. I even did a search for completed postings and couldn't find it. I'm guessing he just pulled the posting and sold them locally instead. Regardless, it was a little bit high on price.

I am still not persuaded that a such a large tower like the SRS 3.1TL would work well in my space. Would it simply overwhelm it?

Another issue: my recently purchased NAD T955. Is it suitable or underpowered? I like it quite well with the CRS+. Here are the specs on it:

Thanks PM. It appears that the seller is acting on behalf of a "client", so there is probably a commission involved, pushing up the price.

The money is one thing but
I think a lot of it for me anyway is how close are they. When I found that set of 1c for 300 last year @50 miles away I couldn't sleep that night in anticipation of the appointment with the seller the next day. I got him down to 250, good thing a 6510 was blown and no cable but I am still happy. The reason he sold them was he said his Bose 901 was better he had bought them to replace well duh I bet he wouldn't think that now:razz:

Get the 3.1`s. My room is not huge or anything special and a stock pair easily influenced me to move my RTiA9`s.

Can`t say much for comparing them to CRS+`s though.

Well I have been away from the forum for a few days and just now saw this...I can share some insight
I tried to purchase the 3.1TL's form the seller on eBay... he accepted my offer and then 3 days later refunded my money..said the wife changed her mind and wanted to keep them. Fortunately I wasn't in the middle of the 11 hour trip to get them. I could have been a real jerk to him for backing out on the deal...he had the Paypal funds already for a couple days. But I am a reasonable person and just took my refund.

The seller seemed nice enough, just dont think he was quite sure what he really had... he has a pair of 1.2TL's as well... third owner I believe... they are in ok shape.

Is this really the same seller? The ones I found were on Craigslist, Las Cruces, NM. The ad was pulled Friday.

The story in the thread is referring to the eBay pair, that seller in WI that canceled that transaction pointed me to the pair in NM and now I am in the process of getting those transported to KS. I was pleased he made the extra effort to find another pair after he backed out of the sale.
