....Char broiled burgers ??

Could be, according to this study that claims a single, yes just one, char broiled burger puts out the same pollution as an 18 wheeler driving 143 miles. Silly....of course, but we are talking California here. Now if you read into this, what this study really says is that pollution from diesel trucks isn't as bad as they would have you believe, but those damn burgers.....they have to go.

Having worked for Cummins Engine Company for seven years back int he 80s, I can say Cummins is one diesel engine manufacturer that takes eliminating pollution seriously -- not just to meet federal emissions standards, but as a social responsibility.

Studies like these are just a precurser to a reason for a new tax to come down the pike. We all joke about taxing the air we breath, well, it just may come to pass....soon.

Personally, if a single char broiled burger is a contributing cause of pollution, then what isn't ? See where I'm going ? It opens the door for new taxes on just about anything and everything. I think some of these boneheads lay awake at night thinking how they can squeeze more coin out of the masses......and make it sound like their doing you a favor. Thats always been the name of the game anyway.

Somehow that just doesn't sound right. I'm going to check with a few of the members of our Chemistry Dept. on this. Then there is also the question of TOTALITY. That is, how many miles do diesels travel a year vs. how many barbecues Americans have a year? lol

I assume John is being tongue and cheek above, not "everything" is a Communist plot. Just be careful. Because the Chinese are chomping at our heels and this might just be their century rather than "ours". There's an enormous amount of development, change, and transformation occurring over there today. By comparison the U.S. is standing still as it's political "morons" debate the pros and cons of Free Market vs. Gov't intervention. Either / or, like school children who have never read any history other than an expurgated edition of their own? You think China is the "only" nation that "rewrites" its own history so as to legitimize its right to rule?

But no more time for politics and they aren't really necessary. You guys know what you think and so do I. lol

I'm all for firing up a few burgers now and then as long as we don't do it so much that we reap cancer in our colons?

And so having spoken he walked down the mountain, no tablets in his hands, disappeared into the masses bellow and lost himself in a crowd of others, most unlike himself. And it was GOOD!

Make sure you add in all the burger joints that produce charbroiled burgers.

Tough comparison anyway. The study doesn't site the age of the diesel truck, obviously todays are more efficient than yesterdays. Heck, Burger king alone, the amount of burgers they sell.....I'm surprised we all aren't dead yet.

No, what they are saying is the commercial places put out a large amount of particulate pollution. I'd say I have to agree, since the exhaust from those commercial places isn't treated. It's not the same as your backyard BBQ.

Having worked quite a bit with CEMS (continuous emissions monitoring systems), I have a decent understanding of what they are talking about. There are cheap solutions to solve most of the problem. You could draw the exhaust from the hood and bubble it through water and probably remove a sizeable portion of the particulates. If you add lime and create a slurry, the efficiency would quadruple. Put a filter on the exhaust and you could reach like 90% removal without breaking the bank.

I'm not agreeing with the tree huggers, but if you look at it with a larger view, they are probably right. There could be a solution.

Cheap solution maybe, but everyone knows they'd pass the cost on to the customers...and who would be willing to pay a few more cents for a charbroiled burger anyway??

Just my opinion, but they have it backwards. They already have a solution in mind, they just need to search for a problem.

    Reporting Stephanie Stahl

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) ? If size matters, male private parts are shrinking, according to a new Italian study on sexuality.

The study?s leaders claim to have bona fide research that says the average size of a **** is roughly 10 percent smaller than it was 50 years ago.

The study doesn?t say how the research was conducted or give numbers. But it does provide several reasons for the shrinkage, including: weight gain, stress, smoking and alcohol.

Researchers also say air pollution has also been shown to ?negatively impact **** size.?

it's only fitting a woman reports this....and it comes from Italy.

So men are getting smaller, womens **** are getting bigger, I'm suddenly feeling useless in all this.

Isn't this reason enough to try and cap pollution ? An inch is big in a mans world....I guess a womans too.
