Ok i guess it's time to move some stuff that is sitting idle.
I have a pair of 3.1TL's fully modded and a set of 1C's that have the xovers modded and a set of rings to install.I have been back and forth for weeks now trying to decide which set to let go.
I love the 3.1's but i have heard so many raves for the modded 1C's here as well.Maybe i need to finish the 1C's before selling but i'm not sure when i'll get time.
So for those familiar with both,WWPD?

Mr. brg - I really am not qualified to even offer an opinion on what they sound like. What I would offer is how hard these speakers are to find. I'm not sure I'd ever take that big a risk where I'd get rid of something I love in the hopes what I'm working on will be better. How hard would it be to find another set of 3.1tl's? How much to mod them if you found them? I guess if you get enough money for them where you could replace them if you need to then it wouldn't be an issue.
Just some free advise. I think it may be worth twice what you paid me for it too!!!

Does one set have more sentimental value to you?Your first pair of SDAs perhaps?
How about after long music sessions,what ones still make you smile the most?

If you want/need funds for something else, then I'd sell what will bring you the most return. Otherwise, if there's no hurry, why not wait until you have the 1Cs finished and the new crossovers burned in? Otherwise you risk seller's remorse if you end up selling 3.1s and you aren't happy with your 1Cs.

Mike, Finish your 1C's before making your decision, Larrys rings made a HUGE difference in my 1C's. A tough call for sure, I have both sets also and plan to keep them. Have sold a few sets of SDA's over the years and always regretted letting them go.
In the process of rebuilding the 3.1's so I can't make a fair comparison between the two. -
I love the 3.1tl's but i guess to be fair i should finish the rings on the 1C's for a true comparison.
I use the 2.3tl's daily and these are idle and i figure i can use the $$ to buy music or another toy of some sort.

If time/money is not an issue it makes the most sense to finish the 1C's and then have a shoot out. I guess i was a bit misleading not mentioning the fully modded 2.3tl's.
I also have a pair of fully modded RTA15TL's and 2 pair of RTA12B/C's that i want to work on.I hear the xovers for 12's are pricey.
Then of course there are the stock RTA11T's and 5JR's.And those little SDA400's.

Sell both pair and try something different. What other speakers have you tried? I've owned both pair and would probably go with the 3.1tl's as they're rare and both are not too far off each other. Also thought the 3.1's performed much better as HT speakers too. I did like my srs2's much better than both mentioned.

Just a folding chair and Mr BRG sitting with a laptop looking to us to help him make more room for his neglected family. That one would sure beat the ones where the cats fill the tub and sinks with their.... You get the picture.
