Looking for something that will power up my new (old) SDA 2B's and also allow me to run the bedroom TV through the receiver. The only other separate amp I own at this time is the HK PA5800, so not looking to use it for this set up. Need a receiver that will really send a blast the SDA's and open them up, and hope this quest is not an expensive one. Looking for suggestions, or maybe even someone that has the animal I need and are willing to sell it to me?? Open to suggestions and ideas. Thanks and this is neverending.........looking for stuff!!:lol: love it

I don't know of any receiver short of the Monster "vintage" receivers of the later '70s that will really send a blast [to] the SDA's and open them up.

Very few have that kind of POWER! But one candidate that will do OK, not blow you out of the room necessarily, is the Outlaw RR2150 which also has stereo Pre-outs. So you can add a power amp.

In fact if you really want a receiver in that room, plan on getting one with pre-outs and adding a good two channel if you want to "blast" your SDAs!

But the Outlaw might work. It's pretty heavy for a receiver, it puts out an HONEST 100 watts x 2 RMS 8 ohms and 160 watts x 2 RMS 4 ohms.

That Outlaw is one of my favorites from a features perspective. A bit pricey, but obviously very high quality.

That NAD & Parasound combo looks sweet as well.

I've got a H/K AVR 635 that might be right up your ally if interested. Pros: Outputs (for amps down the road), 7.1 (or 5.1 with zone 2 support), lots of power. Con: No HDMI, heavy (50+ pounds) - shipping might be an issue.

Where you from? I'd be willing to let it go to a fellow Polkie for $100 - but like I said, shipping might just kill it.

OK, I know that's not a low cost item.

You could get by with an HK 3490 and add a cheap power amp to it later. It isn't quite as good as the Outlaw but you can often find it for around $300 new and less used. I've run it with SDA 2-Bs. And it's OK. But don't expect it to drive you out of the room even though it is rated 120 W x 2.

Is the high price because it's made in the US?

Are you specifically looking for a receiver (usually receivers have a built-in tuner) or any integrated amp that has volume control? Is input switching important?

I've used an HK 3480 in the past with SDA CRS+ and it did ok, but I wouldn't say it sent a blast to them. I think a separate amp is a better choice. The 3480 has preouts

I just decided to buy the Onkyo TX SR805 and call it a day. Plus I can add another pair of SDA's down the road if I decide to do that. Thanks

Not a bad choice at all - congrats!
It has the modern connectivity that the vintage receivers lack. One of those things that you don't know you need until you have it....
With that said, I'd still keep a look out for a vintage receiver with lots of REAL watts. You can't beat the look!

Maybe when the onk takes a **** I'll do something like that. Might add another pair of SDA's to the bedroom here before too long. Just have to find a sweet pair!!
