    Lol.

The good news is that interconnects are VERY easy to sneak into the house!

I'll regret this later I'm sure, but what's an interconnect and why do I need one?

    Think RCA cables.

Why do you need new ones, I'm not going to open that can of worms at all. All I can say to that, it's nice to experiment and try new things.

I googled them and they are a fairly inexpensive option to experiment with (relatively speaking). I may pick up a higher quality pair just for fun. The current ones going from the back of the pre amp are some I found in the back of the (electronic) closet.

Being new, I appreciate any advice!

Rca cables can be inexpensive or expensive, depending on the depth of your wallet, ears, and attached gear. One thing for sure, if your still using the old red and white cables that came with an old vcr/dvd player, time to kick it up a notch or 2. Signal cable analog 2's is a good place to start and get your feet wet. Plus mention your a member here and Frank over at Signal may drop you a discount.

Oh....about that wallpaper. At least put up some Cheap Trick posters over it or......ah, forget it. Cheap Trick poster and Teddy bears with horseys....somethin' just ain't right about that.

May I recommend the Boston Acoustics A26 monitors. Normally sell for $400, but you can sometimes find them on special, or refurbished for $200. These are very impressive.

Monitor 5's would be a quality inexpensive choice for consideration

I have a deal with another member on here to buy a pair of Monitor 5's. Hopefully they will be here next week. I may make a project of refurbishing them. I think it might be a good way to learn more about this hobby (very much a rookie). I read some other threads where members have upgraded parts, so I may be back looking for help when they arrive.

    Tks,

    Jim.

    Hey Jim-

The 5's are packed and ready to go. Will make a trip to UPS later today. When I get tracking #, I'll pm or email you the details. After packing to withstand a nuclear explosion, the box weighs 58lbs :) You will be enjoying them next week.

Update...I have received the Monitor 5's from Travis and they are awesome. They arrived in really great shape (no small issue given their weight and size). Very happy with all aspects of this purchase. Thanks again Travis. P.S. Thanks for the bonus albums!

Only thing now is that I have to re-arrange my room to accommodate the new speakers. Tomorrow I really get to test them out as I have the whole house to myself for the day!

I just set up my new MH 2.2 turntable today. The one I was using was a demo from the store. I think it a great turntable for the price ($400 bucks). Very happy with it so far.

I should add it was good to set up the turntable myself as it was the first time I have done so. I did learn a lot and will feel more confident making some minor adjustments from time to time.

    Cheers.
