Burn In Period (new amp, or one that's been idle for a long time)

When I purchased my new Acurus 125x5 the seller (who installs home theaters for a living) said to leave the amp on and some sort of music running for at least a 2 day period. I have had it running for the 2 days so far, and wonder if this is the norm, and if anyone here knows of this practice. And after the "so called" burn in period, is it back to business as usual, which for me is to shut the system down at night time?? Getting others takes on this will help me (and possibly others) better understand this process. Thanks

I always thought it was primarily speakers that go through a noticeable burn/break in period.

Break in on electronics, including speakers, is ment for new products. Playing music at normal listening levels for a period of time before you start cranking on that volume dial. Used, it won't be an issue. Normally you just play it as you would and over time the sound settles in except it happens so gradually, you may never notice the change. So don't fret over break-in, just rock it out and be happy.

I am so guilty of not having the self control to be able to do this...

Dan and TonyB......Thanks. (Dan out there in Sacto) you all have the good goods to have an adequate "Burn in Session", according to my brother Steve. He's lived there for years and is one of your hometown Guitar Kings!! TonyB is in the true city of the Blues, so here in Ohio, I may start with a "Burn in Session" before listening to music my dang self!!:lol::lol:
