Has anyone ever compare the Wyred STP-SE preamp to an Audio Research LS26, LS27, or Reference 3? Just wondering what I could expect moving to an Audio Research preamp? I know ARC is a well respected company with good products, but are they siginifcantly better than the Wyred preamp or am I expecting to much?

I haven't compared the two, but if you're looking for an upgrade from the STP-SE, check out BAT.

I like mine fine also, just curious what tubes would do for me. Also, trying to figure out if more $$$ gets me more goodness or just different goodness - imaging, soundstage, transparency, tone, etc.

From the experience of someone else here and one of my other friends, they had to spend a few times the price of a STP-SE on a BAT unit to realize any upgrade in SQ.
