Does anyone have any experiance with the Harman Kardon AVR 3650 and the LSI series speakers, I am planning on purchasing a pair of LSI 15's and four FX surrounds with a LSIC center for a home theatre. The room is about 15' x 20' however it is a condo so I am going for sound quality without excesively loud sound. Does the AVR 3650 have enough power to run these speakers well without distortion? Taking into account that I do not intend to shake the walls, just have excellently distributed sound.

Thanks

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Even though that is a rather hefty receiver it will not do justice to the LSi-15s which need even more power. You need at least a good power amp attached to the HK for the fronts. The HK should be able to handle surround duty?

If you don't "push" it! You might be able to run everything for now. But I'd really think about adding a power amp for the 15s and maybe the center as well.

I have the 3650 in my upstairs rig, nice for the wife and kids put it don't have pre outs so you can't hook up an amp.

Now downstairs I have the 3600 with pre outs you can get it cheap as it last years model or the year before.

    Great AVR

    Cheers Roger

Good call there. You're right, NO pre-outs. That's going to be a problem for that LSI system!

I was mislead by the power ratings. HK has decided to start rating their AVRs like everyone else. In reality this series is probably 55-65 watts / channel not 110!

chn your right about the power rating it probably around 65 watts per all channel driven.

I had hooked it up downstairs last winter just for for comparison to the 3600 and it feel way short.

Nice AVR good features but not for power hungier speakers.

    Cheers Roger

Thank you for your input and preventing me from making a costly mistake. I will research a good amp to go with the 3600 and post back with what I went with. Cheers!
