Yesterday, for the third time since doing business with these idiots over the last several years, we had to call and get a refund for a years subscrition to cooks illustrated online, one of the tentacles of americas test kitchen, an organisation whose show you may have seen on your local pbs station.

pbs is how we became acquainted with these people, who, by the way, have an excellent show, excellent website, cookbooks etc, all of which we have willingly paid to avail ourselves of.

We would highly recommend the show, books and paid website as they help regular folks not only learn how to make better food, but also how to take short cuts to make food as good as the classic recipe, but without some of the long tedious or expensive ingredients , techniques etc.

Ok fatboy, whats the problem?, they WILL NOT quit sending you cookbooks you did not order and signing you up for their website, i.e positive response marketing, that i thought had been outlawed, where, we have sent you this, we now expect your payment , and unless you cancel, we will regularly send you this or that, EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER ASKED FOR ANY OF IT.

And to make it worse, YOU GUESSED IT, no matter how many times you call and are told your cc info has been removed and charges are refunded, eventually they will come back and try it again.

Only our experience, but we thought you should be warned, and as weird as it sounds, we still urge people to check out the show, and buy their products, but only with money orders etc., NEVER give them cc no.s or any way to rebill you.

You may have to cancel the CC and get a new one, but if they keep sending you stuff after you have told them not to, you are not obligated to pay for it.

Unfortunately, we cant go on facebook after a class reunion a few years ago.

If we are on there for a split second, someone will pop up, hey scott, or hey deb, and not to be snooty, but some people think their life is fascinating no matter how pedestrian the events they want to relate, and, no matter how many pedesstrian events they have related to you today already.

Not missing much from what we saw on fb while we still did it.

Besides, what we really wanted to do was to let you guys know and not get in the same spot.

I had a similar problem with them and had to make quite a few calls to get it fixed.

I won't buy anything from them as a result even though the products are good.

We sent back two diff cookbooks, on separate occasions,we never ordered thinkin it was a mistake, tryin to be nice, we now have 3 free cookbooks,+ 2 we chose and bought in the beginning for a total of 5, all good cookbooks by the way.

Now, app. 7 months after, in no uncertain terms, through repeated emails and phone calls the first very polite, the last few not nearly so,FINALLY and finallygetting them to withdraw and retreat, they snuck up and tried to hit us up for 30 bucks out of nowhere.

Honestly, not mad, just lettin you guys know what we went through.

You could always file a complaint with you CC company. If they are not legit charges, they may block them from their end.

    Good luck.
