Ok, so long story short, I've been looking for some vintage speakers to put together a stereo system for my bedroom. I saw some Polk LS50s today on CL for $85.00 and I have heard good things so I went and got them!
They seem in good shape, no obvious damage (I haven't taken them apart yet). One of them sounds great, the other sounds awful. No bass and low volume. The tweeter and both woofers are vibrating and are playing music, just not very well. I'd say the high ends are OK, but the bass is missing.
Any idea what this could be? I've switched sides to just check my amp and wires and the problem follows the speaker. Could it be an issue with the cross over?

Update.. I took the drivers out tonight and I was plesantly surprised to find the interior of these speakers look brand new. I swapped out one set of the woofers (just switched them between speakers) and the lack of bass didn't change. So strange, no idea what would cause that.

Sounds like a crossover issue

Those crossovers are very easy to work on and upgrade if desired. Schematic is a sticky in the vintage forum. Pull the crossover and take a look. Feel free to post some photos.

Thank you for the replies. I will track down that sticky and also post some pictures. Overall I'm amazed at the quality of these speakers, and I'm really glad I found them.
