I have just acquired a pair of LSi15's. Now I am looking for a B&K PT5/125.2 to try with them. Has anyone any experience with the pairing? Does anyone know any place in the St. Louis area that carries B&K 2-channel stuff?

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Thanks for the threads. I already love the sound of these speakers, even hooked up to a cheap receiver. I am hoping the B&K will be a good match. I only upgrade once every 20 years or so, so I'm trying to put together a system that will have some staying power.

    Falstaff,

Congrats on purchasing the LSi 15s. I am really enjoying mine.

Yes, the B&K gear is a very nice match for the LSi. The ST125.2 really has a lot of headroom and is super clean sounding. This is a very neutral laid back presentation. I feel that B&K with the LSi doesn't add any coloration to the music at all.

You can try regular wire to start off with but I would recommend investing in some Signal Cable wire if you are on a budget or trying out Kimber Kable if you want to get a little better than that. Both of these wires are a little on the "forward" side of neutral which is a good match for B&K / LSi.

Try the B&K website for a dealer near you. Five year warranty with B&K gear also which is a plus.

Nice system you are putting together by the way. You are in for a treat!

    Paul,
Thanks for the information -- it's just what I hoped to hear. Neutral and laid back are exactly the qualities I am looking for. I can hardly wait until tomorrow so I can call around to see anybody has the B&K in stock.

Thanks for the cable info, also. The last time I did any serious buying, all there was was monster cable. I see (and hear) a lot has changed...

Monster Cable is always a good place to start with wire. Its what I started with and the same can be said for a lot of folks here on this forum. I never thought wire could make a difference until I started to experiment for myself. For some it makes a difference for others not so much. We all hear and perceive things differently so this will be something fun for you to experiment with also and decide for yourself. Like fine tuning that hot rod with different timing, spark plugs / wires, headers, etc... the same can be said for wire even though one cannot usually put quantitative numbers to this kind of performance.

Good luck in your search for B&K. I got the silver which looks awesome. Check out my system showcase for some close-up pics.

Great choices in gear, you should have no issues at all.

If you aren't going to step into the Monster Cable M or Z series, then don't bother with any of the other lines. The Signal Cable brand crushes the lower end Monster Cable, with a couple of them, per Frank(Signal) surpassing the M series. I know that they are competitively priced, and are very high quality.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I want to thank everyone for the help. I got a good deal on some Monster Z2 for bi-wiring, but I don't have any IC's or the XLR cables from the preamp to the amp (I assume it does not come with any.) I think I'll try Signal, as recommended. What's the opinion on the Z2 in this setup?

I see some 125.3 amps on ebay; I assume I could try for one of thise and just not use the third channel (assuming I could get one for much less than a new 125.2?)

I'm up posting at 3:00 AM because every time I try to sleep, I start thinking about the sysem...

Before you're heading out to Ebay, please be aware that you get it from somebody *authorized*. You want to be able to upgrade it in the future, this is especially true with the preamp, so please look into that. Sound Video of Minnesota (www.soundvideo.com) is autho. and Steve will ship them anywhere in the US, and his price is competitive. I also seconded Frank's Signal Analog Two interconnect for being very good value and sounds great. Indeed, you are up for a treat on this combo.

Thanks for the ebay warning, that's good advice. I'm going to see if I can get the amp on ebay, and get the preamp from a local dealer. But only if I can save a lot on the amp price, otherwise I'll order it from the dealer, too.

I'm ordering the Signal Cable today. Looks like it's going to take a week or two to assemble all of the pieces of the system -- the preamp will take 10 days to arrive. Thanks again to everyone for their help.
