Ceiling mount for R20 bookshelf speakers?
I need to mount a pair of R20's to the ceiling. What's the best mount for this?
How about:
http://www.omnimount.com/products/speaker_mounts/stainless_steel_series/20.0_c/
Will the threaded shaft and nut work for the keyhole mount hole in the back of the R20?
I appreciate any recommendations.

The Polk R20 uses a keyhole slot mount which is fine for the Omnimount product.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

thanks, ordering now

argh.... Omnimount does *not* include a keyhole mount adapter. If Omnimount won't send me one I'll have to jury rig something together. Hope I don't have to drill into the speaker

That's very interesting Phantom. Send me a PM and I'll see why this happened since they are supposed to be an authorized manufacturer since they are sold on this website.

Love the R20 speaker. Use them in my bedroom rig and part time for Halloween audio FX. They outperform Sony floorstanders which they replaced for Halloween duty (no huge triumph here though), and sound much larger than they are.
Cant praise them enough.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
Yes - you can use the Omnimount 20 for ceiling use.
And it is fairly easy to adapt it to the keyhole slot on the back of Polk speakers by buying two oversize washers and another nut.
I did exactly this for the Omnimount 20 to ceiling mount my Polk RTi4s.
Just 'sandwich' the keyhole slot between the oversized washers and nuts, then counter-tighten the nuts together.

Thanks for the picture Erik. It looks like you have better access to the 'inside' of the keyhole mount with the Rti4. On the R20, the keyhole is directly into the wood on the back of the speaker (kinda makes me a bit nervous about the strength). I wish the R20 actually had a plate mounted like that, looks alot more secure.
Since I can't put an oversized washer on the inside, I just have to find the perfect screw to fit the keyhole. I guess I'll put one washer on each side of the mounting plate that came with the mount.
Does anyone know if there is anything 'important' on the inside of the R20 near the keyhole mount? Perhaps I should screw into it. The whole reason I'm mounting these speakers (and putting away the towers) is for temporary baby-proofing. The last thing I need is a speaker falling off the ceiling because the wood on the back of the R20 keyhole mount couldn't supports its own weight. -
Yeah, thanks for the advice Erik. I have a set of four omnimounts and will be using them to mount my RTi4's as well.
What size omnimount bracket is that? I went with the 20lb set. I figured I better go heavier versus lighter, and leave room to upgrade to an RTi6 if I want to later on.Polk Fronts: RTi A7's
