Hi to all.

I Just bought LSi9's on sale and just discovered that driving them costs more than these speakers :(

I use them for music and occasional movie watching. movie is not priority.
Digging the web, most affordable amp I could find to drive them is Emotiva UPA-200, costing 350$ and producing 200Watts@4ohm.

How do you think, how well this amp gonna work with these speakers?
next thing is XPA-3, producing 300Watts@4ohm and costing twice as much.

IMO your better off looking for a used amp. Parasound, Adcom, Carver are a few options.

thanx for the replies, but I forgot to mention that I need 220V power source unit.

It's overpriced considering the used market. I paid 250 for a 5 channel carver amp that drives my entire LSi 5 channel setup. A comparable Emotiva amp would have been 1k

Plenty of 2-3 channel amps out there for cheap. Not so with the 5 channel.....I know!!

Emotiva doesn't have a great following around here but that amp will be just fine. I owned the XPA-2 and the UPA-2 and they were good amps. The XDA-1 DAC I owned from Emotiva wasn't all that great but the amps are good.

Under 300 bones for a 5 channel amp sounds "cheap" to me.

Dang, I really missed that one Tony. I have so on the hunt for the adcom 7500 (not hijack this thread) because it fits in my cabinet ane delivers 150 watts per channel. I have heard that one rocks!! But if one is okay with 125 watts per channel and lower as far as 5 channel amps go, yes, I have seen plenty. Just looking for that jewel. That is hard for me to find!!

Watts isnt the end all spec for an amp. My Carver puts out a max of 125 watts per channel and its driving LSi 15's, LCiC and LSi F/X speakers with NO PROBLEMS. It does have something called power steering though which might help it out a bit, but still.

That B&K would make you super happy IMHO.

Deals come and go, but the good stuff at a good price comes too, you just have to jump on it or it will be gone pronto. So know exactly what your looking for, have coin in hand, patience, and they pop up all the time. You can always resell if something doesn't float your boat at no to minimal loss.
