New Forum?
Cable Forum?
Not sure they make a difference (I have heard they do though ), but we have every other forum covered.
Think there may be some differences of opinion?
Too many arguements?
Rekon that may be an issue to consider?
Personally, I am still using the red/yellow/blue cables that came with my components (LOL), but was wondering
if there might be an interest in such a forum?

LoL.. the concept is great
I personally feel the cable/hook up section covers this adequately- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

True but the basic hookup/wiring forum seems to be more of a "how do I hookup a 15" subwoofer to a
cellphone" type forum.
Not so much sharing/discussing/cable reviews, value vs. money spent, SQ, ect.
Good bad and ugly lowdown, nothing but cables.
Hell, the "Clubhouse" gets more cable action than the basic hookup/wiring forum, LOL!Testing

I consider cables to be passive electronics, so the Electronics forum works for me. But, I have no problem with a separate cable forum. stereophile has a separate cable discussion area on their site forums.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I know that cables have made a difference for me. I suspect having a Cables area in the Forum would just invite trolls to come in and start stupid debates. We would be baiting trolls. No way this is a good idea.
On a similiar subject. I think Steve Hoffman will not allow "double blind" discussions. Check out their Forum rules. Funny, the cables make a difference haters ignore opinions from people like Steve Hoffman, Bernie Grundman, Robert Ludwig and others who will tell you straight out they use premium cables because they make a difference. Funny they never bring up the opinions of the recording studio expects. Instead, we are to believe the opinions of guys who install pro audio systems in tire centers.Carl -

You can change that.
it's as easy as posting a thread in that topic regarding the specific issue you want to discuss.
It would seem to me the other threads are just posted in the wrong category.design is where science and art break even. -
Not necessary at all, we have enough forums and cables get covered and discussed just fine.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

Very good point, the trolls would come out of the woodwork.
Maybe even a few "Tire Center" guys, LOL!Testing

You can name the forum:
"Locked Thread Central"
I agree that it would do nothing but ramp up trolls. -
Cable as in speaker cable or wire? Do you mean to include interconnects? Or no? Either way I vote no. Too controversial. One member compared discussing the above right up there with other conversation no-nos: religion, politics, & sex. I think music belongs on the list.
Go to DIYAudio.com There you can find a closed thread w 14,897 replies titled something like "Cables & ICs don't make a difference do they?" between 80% - 90% of the replies were slung mud; very little useful info for those seeking it.
I've replied to quite a few Polk wire threads with "if we could create a sticky..." new members could get basic wire & IC questions answered w/out asking w/links and/or instructions to PM a Mod or some long time members. Further the Mods would delete wire & IC thread stopping the trouble before it starts.
Don't get me wrong IMHO upscale & premium wire & ICs DO have their place. Unfortunately as others have posted: the trolls. I've seen them far too many times turn new members' innocent threads/questions that started as (themed) "just trying to finish making connections," "my system came w/cheap ICs," or "I need to replace my old corroded speaker wire" into opportunities to sling mud at other members because of a difference of opinion not always fact based.

Personally I like the idea, but that could be because I've been on an all things cable kick here lately.

It never turns out well pep, as you can see from the last cable thread. Till they shut it down.
