When I plug my table into the wall it makes a really bad hum mostly from the left channel. Also When I push the start lever the arm goes all the way to the center pin on the table. Technics SL1360. any ideas?

Thanks, 1c

The hum is probably a bad ground connection to your preamp or amp or receiver, or whatever phono stage you're using. There should be a single wire out of the turntable usually with a spade or just bare wire. Your phono preamp should have a ground terminal to connect that to.

The arm moving like that means you need to adjust the anti-skate on the tonearm. No idea what the adjustments are like on the Technics, but if you google "Technics SL1360 anti skate" you should find some good info.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Awesome thanks on the anti skate thing. The terms are still new. The hum was a combination between a sticky spring loaded connection in the head shell to tonearm and a loose ground on the pre.

Thanks! Panic is back under control hehe.
