For those of you with the FX speakers, I guess the effects are the same from most product lines, how did you place yours? Can they go on a back wall instead of the sides? Which mode do you prefer running them for movies, bipole or dipole? Which mode may be best for being behind the listening area?

I'm looking to get some soon and this type of surround speaker is someting I've never dealt with before.

    how did you place yours?

On stands against the back wall.
Can they go on a back wall

    Hell, yeah!
Which mode do you prefer running them for movies, bipole or dipole?

Try both to find out which one you like best.

From the manual for my FX1000 set:

    SPEAKER PLACEMENT
The f/x1000 speakers may be placed on any
    horizontal surface capable of supporting
their weight, or mounted on a wall (see wall
mounting instructions on page 12). The type
of surround processor you use and the kind
of sound and looks you want will influence
    your placement and Dipole/Bipole switch
choices (Figure 1). Experiment to find the
right balance of sound quality, room integration and looks that best suit you. Here are
some recommendations to review before you
    determine the permanent installation.

I have the FX300i surrounds on stands in Dipole mode, and they sound great. I was thinking bigger may be better, but not in my case. depends on size of room too. BTW they look so cool on stands!! IMO anyway!!
