I love my RTi100s.

I love my CSi40.

I'm only driving these wonderful speakers with a Sony STRDE995, Sony DVD hooked up with the old fiber optic cable and all. Small room, mostly movies, some music but I listen to metal so everything sounds great...laugh.

My question is this. I need to pick up 4 surrounds for the rear and side speakers - price is not especially a big deal, I'm willing to go with 4 x FXi50s. Should I consider some combination of RTi38 and FXi50? 2 FXi50 and 2 FXi30? I'd say F it and go with the LSiFX but well, my receiver is nice for the price but not LS nice...laugh.

Any help from the experts out there wold be appreciated. I'm leaning towards the 4 FXi50s I guess but if anyone has experimented with any combinations above it'd be great to hear your results.

Rob

Depends.... what size room, seating arrangement etc?? Price not being an object, I'd stick with 4 50's or a combo of 38's and 50's. 38's on the rear surround if you have enough room between rear seating and rear wall (say 10 feet or so).

I'd say go with one of the following depending on your room size. The idea is to use the same size drivers all the way around.

    1) 2 RTi28s and 2 FXi30s for small and midsize rooms.

    2) 2 RTi38s and 2 FXi50s for large rooms. IMO, I feel these will look too big on the wall unless the room is large.

But act quick because this line is getting hard to find.
    My 7.1 setup consists of:
    Denon 3803
    Panasonic DVD
    RTi70s front
    CSi40 front center
    RTi28s side surround
    FXi30s back surround

not to get off subject here but jkratzer I noticed you have your rti28's on the side and the fxi30's on the back. How does that sound?
I have rti35's on the back and fxi300's on the sides.Never tried changing them around.Might be something to fiddle with when I need a little tweaking fix

I'm very happy with the sound. The FXi30s are set to bipole mode on the back wall. This setup works well for me because my seating area is up against the back wall. In my case, direct radiators would not be able to disperse the sound as well.

One more thing, if you put the FXi30/50 speakers on the back wall, you should swap the left speaker with the right to allow the mid-driver to be facing inward toward the audience. When sitting and facing the front of the room, the speaker labeled "L" should fire over your right shoulder and the speaker labeled "R" should fire over your left shoulder. I emailed Polk on this and this is what they suggested.

timing is always a big deal.... best habit to get into is reading forums. I started readin back when I really got into computers and I'll tell ya, you'd be surprised at what you can get way below usual retail.
