This guy was so talented, just a few of the songs he wrote off the top of my head.
The games people play
Dont it make you want to go home
walk amile in my shoes
rose garden
Down in the boondocks
hush.
He also played guitar on many session recordings, one that comes to mind is aretha franklins chain.
He was from atlanta, as a kid he was interested in technology, and built his own little radio station with a 1 mile coverage.
His voice and songs takes me back to little league baseball practice at ricky culpepper field in east point Ga. where someon always had an am radio goin, they rotated about 10 songs an hour, not exagerating, things like three dog night, grass roots, janis joplin, tommy roe, and ol joe south.
RIP.
He got kinda wrapped up in drugs later on, died of heart failure

RIP Joe! I enjoyed many of his songs. Same as you, AM radio on somebody's porch.
How did we get old? I look into the mirror and wonder "When did I turn into my father?"Carl -
Somewhere in my pile I have one of his LPs that he signed. Have to pull it out and spin it.>
