speaker placement

Hello all,
just joined and am setting up a room for mainly movie viewing. Just moved into the house and have been piecing together a modest system as i came across sales.... (yes, im kinda cheap)
what im working with is the following
AVR Yamaha RXA1000
Sub HSU STF-2
Center Polk CSI Series II
Front Polk Monitor 50 Series II
Surround L & R Polk RM7
Back Surround L & R Polk RM8
My concerns are speaker placement for the surrounds. Room size is approx 15 x 22, viewing distance 14 ft. I've got wooden beams across the ceiling and built in bookcases along the back wall on either side of a window. I was thinking of hanging the surround speakers from the beams and possibly place the rear surrounds either on top of the bookcases or mount on the sides or again possibly on the beam located at the back of the room and move them more towards the center of the room. The reason, 2 yr old twin boys, stands are not an option.
Will the speakers be effective and are mounts available for downward angling, or do I need to mount them with the mounts that came with them on the wall and have them firing parallel to the floor?
Thanks for your input
