SL-2500 to RD0-198-1 & Successful Xover Refreshment

I just refreshed a pair of Monitor 5 series II crossovers and the difference it made was just breathtaking. I can't take my ears off these speakers now. It helped in every area. When I refreshed my 2B crossovers, I absolutely did not notice this much of a difference.
I replaced the original components with Solen, Soniccap, and Mills Resistors.
The impact of the new parts was just crazy. I thought I'd never enjoy these speakers coming from much larger SDA's, but now I actually prefer them to my 2BTL's for my small home office. They just rock! I was complaining about the bass in another thread, but careful speaker positioning and changing my listening position along with the new & improved xover's helped immensely.
Okay, I'll stop bragging My question is about the SL-2500 tweeter vs the RD0-198's. I've already dropped some serious coin on these and I don't have any complaints abou the tweeters now with the updated xover's. I don't sense anything annoying about them which wasn't the case for the SL-2000 in my 2B's.
I'm looking for those who have gone from the SL-2500 to the RD0-198 tweeter who wouldn't mind sharing exactly what changed with the swap.
Btw, I know I asked the same question on my last thread but I didn't get any specific answers and also wanted to share a success story with my xover's

I went from the stock SL3000's to the RD-0198's in my 2.3TL's, and the improvement was impressive. I hesitated on making the move because I read that the latter is much smoother, and I thought the SL's were almost rolled off. Didn't want more of that.
I would say spend the $96 and go for it. The consensus here on the board is that the RD-0's are just plain better."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
Does anyone know if the RDO-194's are still available? I discovered a blown out tweeter in my SRS's...

They are. I bought a pair in the last 45 days directly from Polk. $48 each with free shipping. -
Xlent!
Years back I replaced 4 (two per spkr) on my SRS's, and was going to do the other two each, but U know, that life thing got in the way...
What I really need to do is bite the bullet and redo the xovers.
I'm halfway OK now cause I still had two of the SL2000's left, so I was able to swap the old one out (it was an SL200 that had gone out.
Thanks much! I'll call the home base tomorrow! -
ould totally recommend upgrading the crossovers at the same time.....doing mine on modest 5Bs made a major improvement.
Good luck. -
Called home base today and spoke to Matt. Will be ordering tweeters in the next day or three. Fortunately, as I said, I still had a couple good sl2000's lying around.
The designation for the unit is now RDO-194-1
I asked him about the -1 at the end and he said they are reserving the ability to come out with mods. Whether any mods would be better or worse than the unit as it stands today is something time will tell!
I was surprised to learn Matt the founder had retired and sold the company, certainly not news to long time Polkies. Me, myself, last few years I worked on setting up new power for the beasts consisting of dual Behringer A500 amps.
They are not running monoblock, I split the signal off my EQ, run the left and right into one amp, then to the HF posts, and ditto for the LF.
I CANNOT use the HF-LF connectors with this setup, when I tried once (for a very short time!) my lights in the house mysteriously dimmed and I thunk well that's not good...!
Anyone have the schematics for which tweeters have what frequency response? I saw it a while ago but can't find it...
Also, I am curious about the latest and greatest recommendations for xover upgrade. I upgraded the polyswitches years back, but should probably re-do the caps and put in some 5% resistors.
Thanks in advance!
