Available for $200 looking like in excellent condition. With stands and the sideways mounted Peerless tweeter. Should I go for it?

i picked up a pair of RTA 12's off craigslist about 2 months ago. i have a pretty steep learning curve to travel concerning the technical aspects of speakers, (getting a LOT of help from guys on the site) but i know what i hear, and these are the cleanest speakers i've ever heard. for 200.00 i grab them in a heartbeat. i love mine

Those sound like the first in the RTA 12 series. 12B's and 12C's are more advanced, with a better Xover design and much better imaging.Having said that, those are no slouches.

IMHO $200 is a bit high if they've had no work done on them since new, i.e. tired old Xover parts replaced. Those speakers are 30+ years old. I'd offer him $100 and pay up to $125.

    They look brand new!

I would definitely audition them, get a bit of history on ownership, what have they been driven with, remove the grills and have a look at the drivers.

30+ year old speakers can look great but still have issues that, though fixable, would affect the price.
