I'm getting the flashing cursor on start up, nothing more. Unless I hit delete, where I can still get into bios, which I think tells me that my mobo is still good.
If it is the hdd, I think the only I lost was some emails & tech manuals

Does the Bios see the hard-drive?
If not yes I think it's dead.

It was seeing it as 'generichdd' as opposed to 'seagate123', which seems as though the mobo can see something is there, but can't specify it?I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Download a tool called TestDisk - it's probably just your boot sector of the HDD, and this will rebuild it. Have you tried slaving the drive on another PC?65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

You can also get a repair by changing boot to dcs drive and inserting windows 7 dvd, assuming you have that os. If the boot sector is corrupted this can fix.Polk Lsi9

It'll be faster if you bring it to a tech store or a tech friend. From your latest threads, I'd say it'll cost you a lot of time, not to mention it'll probably be wasted time, if you decide to deal with it by yourself.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

I didn't think a repair/recovery worked for the boot sector? I guess I've always just used TestDisk when that happens, so maybe it does work. I just use the repair when windows itself blue screens or gets stuck in a boot loop65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try a recovery tomorrow. I got stuck with a service call in Myrtle Beach today, and just got home. If that doesn't work, I'll just buy, a new PC. I've had nothing but problems with this p.o.s. and I'm done wrestling with it. Since I'm not into gaming any more, I don't need a Louie Zoom system.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
