Wednesday night we went to Tweeter and finally bought a progressive scan player, the Pioneer Elite DV-45A. This has a lot more bells and whistles than our Pioneer DV-414 which I knew going in but some of it I need some input on. It has settings for video and audio. My question is if I adjust the video settings with
my t.v. and my audio settings with my receiver why would I do anything with the settings on the DVD player. So anybody out there with this player or any advice would be great so I can make adjustments if neccasary to get the most out of my setup.

usually you don't have many setting you have to worry about in the player itself. You are right.. setting up the video in your TV and the audio in your receiver. The only thing I would check would be the speaker setting in the player so they match your receiver settings.. ie small = small, etc.

Other than that.. nothing jumps out at me right away.

You might check with you receiver manufacturer. I found when I hooked up my D45 to my B&K pre/pro that when I set the delay and speaker size adjustments in the DV45 they doubled the B&K settings or acted as an aditional pre/proc. The settingings in the B&K were still active with the discreet innputs so I was correcting everything twice and it didn't sound too good. You might do some checking on this.
