Good amps! Love B&K. They are one of the few solid state amps that I will run.

Thanks tony. nothing here on where this series comes in on the line up of old BK...entry level, or top of the line. Some may come back with that "everything they do is top of the line" but nothing really explaining that. It looks like a good amp, but in HK PA 5800 I now own, I am sick with the "curious as to how much better can it sound" thing?? Yes, thi is a sickness folks!! lol Love it. Just sold an old guitar I was sitting on, so spending a few bucks somewhere??"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

The Sonatas are great amps. B&K never made any amps that weren't high quality that I know of. I used to own a HK Pa 2100 I believe it was. It was a two channel, 180 wpc HK amp. It didn't hold a candle to any B&K amp that I have owned or heard. The B&K house sound is detailed, yet warm, with outstanding bass, great imaging, and a wide soundstage. They have a sound that is somewhat tube like. If you have found a good deal on a Sonata or Sonatas (they made some monoblock versions in that series), I would jump on it. One thing to keep in mind though was the Sonatas were made in the early to mid 90s, so they may need to have the caps replaced being a twenty year old amp. Any rebutable repair shop can do this and it will be worth the effort.
