Squeezbox Touch - Channel Islands VDA-2 - For Trade

Both are in great condition and really make a phenomenal combo. The Squeezebox was purchased new just a few months ago and was used maybe 10 times in my office rig. Both are currently collecting major dust and not being used. They come with original boxes.
I don't want to break them up if I don't have to because they go great together. If you're thinking about going with a SBT, you'll need a good DAC. The VDA-2 is a phenomenal DAC and doesn't take up a lot of real estate.
I'm looking for a Dared SL2000a (long shot I know) or another great preamp. I have some cash to make up the difference if a straight trade doesn't make sense.

Well, I have lot's of crap I'd trade and potentially some good stuff - do you have at least an approximate value in mind? -
Hey Dave, I'd say $210 shipped for the SBT and $285 (what I paid) for the VDA-2.

Alright guys, I know I'm one shifty **** but these are now for sale. I'd like to just save for a tube preamp. I'd like to leave them open to someone interested in purchasing the pair for a few days. If their are no biters, then I'll sell them separately.
The DAC is really phenomenal and just silky smooth. Channel Islands really nailed it here. More info here:

I have a Squeezebox touch already but may be interested in the Dac. Do you run a Coax or Toslink from Squeeze to Dac and then analog to pre?
Is the sound change using the Dac w/SBT significantly different than just using SBT?
My SBT sounds pretty good just by itself.I got static in my head

Yep that's right. Yes the sound does change but I wouldn't use the word significantly. It's more of a subtle yet very noticeable change. I've owned several DAC's now, all of which had different characteristics and the best way to describe the VDA-2 is smooth. It's a very pleasing, natural, non-fatiguing sound. For me I didn't notice an increase in detail, but just an overall more relaxed presentation. Now that I've used up all the buzz words, it just rocks -

Shifty doesn't even begin to describe it
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -

Oh my friend, there are choice words for you too -
You may want to think twice about selling that Squeezebox Touch. Have you seen the news? You won't be able to buy it again in the future, and it sure is a handy thing to have around.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I am currently running this DAC in my main rig, the description Shane gave is pretty spot on. Very well built and just really smooths things out.
If I didn't have so many damn weddings to attend this month I would be all over that SQB! -

maybe he's selling it because of that news -

Funny you mention that Aaron, I've been to literally dozens this year for work! Have you bought the PS for the VDA-2 yet?
Guys, this combo as of now is staying. I did a couple of hours of critical listening tonight and this combo just beats out my Keces DA-151 Mkii on so many levels. I haven't had these pieces in the rig for months and to all who were considering, I'm sorry I plugged them in to test @_@ And if the rumors are true about the SBT being discontinued, I definitely want to hang onto it. The DAC is really a little monster too. It has great depth and sheesh, it's so smooth & rich. The best way I can describe the comparison is that the Keces is "flat" in comparison.
This one is off-line.....for now  -
