Any point using the SDA connection with Mono recordings?

Title really says it all. Does the SDA connection add anything positive with mono? Is it a negative?
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

SDA (stereo dimensional array) mono would totally defeat the purpose

I'm not understanding the meaning of your post. Can you explain the "purpose" you're referring to?

SDA has no effect good or bad with mono recordings. If your in the sweet spot, all the sound will be right in the middle of the stage, just like regular stereo speakers.

Don't you think it'd make center stage a little narrower?
Right. I simply meant SDA's sound no different than other speakers with mono recordings.

.In Mono the SDA portion of the SDA's has zero, nada, zilch, effect. No point in even hooking up the cable.

I agree, there may be no point in hooking up the cable for Mono use. But, is there a point to disconnecting the IC cable for Mono material? I'm assuming that most others, like me, just keep their IC cables connected when the speakers are not in use. Therefore, the question would be do you disconnect the IC cable? Or, just leave it in place?

Mono turns your SDA's:eek: into a big center channel speaker. Well I don't unhook and it shouldn't matter anyway

Precisely! Much better way of asking my question.

I have SDA's. I have had SDA's for 23 years. The cable is always connected. I have some mono recordings. When I listen to them, is there any reason to disconnect the SDA cable?

I would compare using SDAs to listen to mono to wearing 3D glasses to watch a black and white movie.

Thanks for your insight. I'll just toss the 180g vinyl Bob Dylan mono box set that I just got into the trash then, apparently it's not worthy of my SDA's. I appreciate your wisdom and experience.

I hope you realize that I was just kidding. I can't speak for the rest of these guys. Any speaker is just a transducer that should accurately reproduce whatever input signal it receives from an amplifier regardless of it is mono or stereo. That is true for SDA speakers when the IC is disconnected. I say play the mono songs on your SDAs and if you like the way it sounds don't worry about what the rest of us think. What your ears hear from your speakers in your room is what counts.

Thanks. I realize the SDA's become "normal" speakers if you disconnect the cable. I'm simply trying to ascertain if anything becomes detracted from a mono recording by leaving the cable in place, and I'm being told by people far wiser than me that this is not the case. I'm all set.

I have used my SDA's for plenty of mono recordings, mostly Beatles early stuff and with or without the cable it sounds the same. I would just keep the cable hooked.
