OK, So I have an Onkyo 608 and running RTI4's center and wides. I'm bi-amping the wides and as you know it drops it output power because it is like running a 7 channel system instead of 5.

In 7 channels the Onkyo is rated about 40 WPC. In 5 channels it is rated about 83 WPC.
So I'm thinking of Bi-Wiring to increase power output from 40 to 83 WPC. IYHO do you think it will make a difference to run this unit with higher power to the speakers? If I do away with the Bi-amp comfig it will double the power to all the speakers, do you think that will make a sonic difference? Just wanted to get opinions before I take this project on.

I'm guessing the bi-amp thing with a reciever like that isnt going to do much if anything. I noticed a small difference in my surrounds and heights (m30's and 40's) when I added a amp to the front three and let the Pio SC-35 run the monitors but thats 140w rating going to them. In your particular case I would push 5.1 standard until I could either get either a bigger reciever or exsternal amplification. However i'm drinkin a beer and not that bright to begin with so dont take any advise from me.

Bi-Amping a pair of bookies does make a difference with this AVR. However, I am thinking about headroom improvement and dynamic power affecting sound. After all if I stop bi-amping it will double the power to the speakers even though I probably never use 83 watts in my listening area. This is a good AVR but I do not like it for music but I do like it somewhat for TV. It will be the next thing to be replaced in my system. It will be very easy to go from bi-amping to bi-wiring.
