Been asking a lot of questions lately and just adding another to the mix. I've been told that I may need some kind of amp down the road to push my 12s to better reach their potential and i'm wondering what some suggestions would be for this. How will an amp for only my 2 front towers affect my surround sound when movies are playing? Will it be off balance?? Bear with me, I know what I'm trying to ask, just don't know the technical language. As of right now I'm very pleased with how the Onk handles business but as I add more speakers to build my surround, I think I'm understanding that the Onks output to the speakers goes down, the more you attach to it?

Yep, the more speakers you ask the receiver to drive, the less power all of them get. Adding an amp will not do anything to your surround sound besides make it better. If you add a 2 channel amp, you need 2 good quality rca cables from the receivers front left and right pre outs to the amps left and right inputs....thats it. You may have to adjust speaker levels but I doubt it.

What would be a good amp for my setup? I'm looking for a 'warm' one as I understand?

    Hello:

I currently have the Onkyo TX-NR709 and using a Parasound 2125 is a 125w to drive my front RTi12 and so far I liked it. But I am looking for something with more power or a second 2125 and use them in mono to power the 12's and I use this setup for 5.1 and also for 2ch for music.

Irrenhaus, I'm checking out the 2125s. Question, is there a way, in what your talking about using 2 of these, to bridge them somehow and up power even more? Or is there another advantage to having 2 instead of one?

    Hello:

The 2125 is rated at 125w per/channel at 8ohm and that is okay, but in mono is rated at 400w per/channel at 4 or 8 ohm so I will use one amp per RTi12 at 400w.

    Cheers
    Enjoy those 12's

Dude that sounds absolutely BEAST!! Let me ask though, while that has incredible potential, how will that relate to the rest of your speakers in surround watching a movie? Will the 12s not blow way out of proportion to the others?? Btw, I'm loving the 12s!
